Diafani is linked to Rhodes and Piraeus by a weekly or twice weekly ship. In the summer season the number of ships is increased.

In the past the ship had to anchor out at sea and the local kaïki launch would go out to load and unload the passengers and goods while the ships bobbed about in the waves. With the advent of the new port large Ferry Ships can now dock in Diafani and passengers and vehicles can unload with reasonable ease.

The ship docks for only a few minutes so you will see a lot of running backwards and forwards and hear much shouting mixed with the excited or sad greetings and farewells. This is one of the principal entertainment events of this otherwise relatively calm village.
