1 ) THE MAIN CHURCH OF DIAFANI
with its breathtaking interior of mural icons

2 ) THE NEW FOUNTAIN IN DIAFANI
with tiled surround depicting scenes from the traditional daily life of this mainly agricultural community.

3 ) THE WALL STATUES IN DIAFANI
depicting the local woman left behind while her husband sailed away to make the family's fortune

4 ) THE OUTDOOR STONE OVENS
each one belongs to a family and on certain days you will see the trays of bread and local koulouri bread rolls being taken to the oven for baking

5 ) THE LOCAL SCHOOL OF DIAFANI
a typical one class rural school decorated outside with extraordinary plaques depicting ancient and modern scenes

6 ) THE WINDMILLS OF DIAFANI
mainly still unrestored but you will get a superb view from here of the village and northern coastline

7 ) THE OLD PORT, THE SMALL STONE JETTY OF DIAFANI
in the centre of the village where you can see the daily comings and goings of small "varka" and kaïki fishing boats and the arrival of the two daily excursion boats which bring tourists up for the day from the capital in the south, to visit the unique hilltop village of Olymbos

8 ) THE NEW PORT OF DIAFANI
where, in spite of modernisation, there still lingers the excitement and drama of loved ones arriving or leaving the village.

9 ) THE SECOND CHURCH OF DIAFANI AND THE LOCAL CEMETERY
situated on the hillside near the windmills

10) THE HEADLAND AND LIGHTHOUSE BEAM
this headland is believed to be an ancient site but the Greek authorities are not able to excavate all the likely sites in Greece. You will get a superb view from here of the coastline and the olive groves and wheat fields.
At harvest time you will see the wheat being beaten in the traditional way in the round stone circles you will notice scattered about the countryside

11) THE TRADITIONAL KARPATHIAN INTERIOR
if you are lucky enough to be invited into somebody's home or as you walk about the village you may get glimpses of the incredible decorated rooms of the local houses.

12) THE TRADITIONAL WOMEN AT WORK
as you walk about the village of Diafani you will see the local women crocheting or sewing elaborate designs of flowers and birds in the traditional cross-stitch for their, or their daughter's, dowry linen.
On certain days you will see the local women carrying trays of bread, pies and Biscuits to and back from the outdoor stone ovens.
Depending on the season you may also see the women drying and preparing fleece for their looms. Many local women also still weave the material for their own local costume.
As you walk about the countryside you will also see the women tending their animals and working in the fields and olive groves.
